Overview

According to section 14.3 of the PDF specification guide (PDF32000_2008), a metadata is global information about the document which is intended to assist in cataloging and searching for documents in external databases. This metadata holds the following information.

  • Title
    The document’s title

  • Author
    The name of the person who created the document.

  • Subject
    The subject of the document.

  • Keywords

Keywords associated with the document.

  • Creator
    If the document was converted to PDF from another format, the name of the conforming product that created the original document from which it was converted.

  • Producer
    If the document was converted to PDF from another format, the name of the conforming product that converted it to PDF.

  • CreationDate date
    The date and time the document was created, in human-readable form (see PDF32000_2008 7.9.4, “Dates”).

  • ModDate
    The date and time the document was most recently modified, in human-readable form (see PDF32000_2008 7.9.4, “Dates”).

  • Trapped
    A name object indicating whether the document has been modified to include trapping information (see PDF32000_2008 14.11.6, “Trapping Support”).
